COOK WITH MICHELIN-STAR FRENCH CHEFS

Enjoy al fresco French conversation classes in the garden each day.

Learn about the food and wine production of the Languedoc-Roussillon region, along with its fascinating (if sometimes bloody) history.

And visit some amazing places too!

This immersion week of social and academic learning and experiences, staying at a rural villa set amid sunflower fields near the medieval City of Carcassonne in South-West France, is suitable for Worldschool teens and adults.

Along with a full programme of classes and group tours, there will be additional time for less-structured and teens-led activities – and plenty of fun!

At home, there is a pool, tennis court, table-tennis and a boules pitch and if we’re lucky, there may be some local events going on – such as one of the village fetes.

Keen cyclists can coast alongside the nearby Canal du Midi or explore the country lanes. As well as the famous sunflowers, this region is associated with vineyards, olive-growing and fantastic food. It has a rich cultural, political and civil engineering history dating back over 2,000 years.

This is a fabulously-French tailor-made retreat for Worldschoolers, balancing fun, spontaneous events with tutored classes and fascinating guided outings to some important cultural and historical World Heritage sites.

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

Upto two cookery classes per participant with local French award-winning ‘chefs d’excellence’ (limited to 10 persons in each class).

French conversation sessions with a qualified teacher during weekdays.

Art materials provided, either for painting,
drawing or outdoor transient art.

A visit to the medieval walled city of
Carcassonne - a magnificent World Heritage site dating back to the 7th Century which became a centre of resistance during the cruel and bloody persecution of the region’s Cathar religious
followers during the 13th Century.
A local expert will give an informative talk on this.

A trip to the nearby Canal du Midi Museum which celebrates the astonishing system of waterways, one of Europe’s oldest still in
operation. Its construction began in 1667 during the reign of Louis XIV - 240 kilometres linking the Atlantic coast to the Mediterranean Sea, paving the way for the Industrial Revolution.

A visit to a local French market.

A chocolate-making class for teens.

An enlightening outing to an olive producer and the opportunity to sample the different varieties of olives and olive oil.

An equally sparkling day at home, mainly for teenagers: a fun ‘sports day’ will encourage social learning, teamwork and leadership.

Tennis and ping-pong tournaments, fancy dress relay swimming races, a boules game and more. (We even have a French expert to tutor everyone in the technicalities of pétanque!)

A trip to a local go-karting track for the teenagers.
